Pretty cool...

Happy Birthday James! He got today off (first birthday off in forever) and we had breakfast and got to hang out and just be together. It was nice. A lot of fun.

Jamie had a game tonight and did awesome. He went 3 for 3 with a double and two singles. He also got the ball a lot in the outfield and threw really well today. They won and Jamie got a game ball! So we're writing the date on, Jamie's writing his name on it, and we'll put it on his shelf of keepsakes.

Jamie also got invited to his first two birthday parties (that aren't family-related) this week. They're both boys on his baseball team and they're on the 26th and 27th of April. So that weekend will be extra busy (because he has a baseball game early on the 26th).

I'll let everyone know how it goes, but Jamie is really excited about the parties-tomorrow we go and get their gifts.

Take care.

Not much...

Okay, so there really isn't much going on. Baseball continues for Jamie, and he's having so much fun. It's definately his favorite thing to do.

Wednesday is James' 29th birthday, but we're not doing much of a celebration due to his working and Jamie has a game at 6pm. I will at least have a cake though:)

Oh, and it looks like James will be done with his turnaround on Friday. Only 36 days straight of 14-16 hour days...yeesh.

Oh, Jamie is growing again. We went and bought him Size 4 in little boys jeans today. It was pretty weird. And last night he stood on his bed and I had to look slightly up at his face. It was also pretty weird (thinking about how in the not-to distant future I'll have to look up with him standing on the ground).

We also fill out paperwork for Kindergarten this month. I think his school year starts on August 25th. Pretty exciting I think.

Anyhow, if anything worth telling happens, I shall update here. Hope this finds everyone well.

Our new projects

So this will be short, because it's almost dinner time. But Jamie is very much into new projects lately. Recently we planted two alyssum plants, one strawberry plant, and a zinnia. They were the dollar ones at Target. Anyhow, the alyssum is growing and you'd think fireworks were going off outside! He is so thrilled. He is currently sitting outside to 'watch the plants grow because it's so exciting!' In fact, he just got on his flip flops. Guess he and Evan have the same catchphrase! :)

We also completed (well, almost) a puppet show theater. We used a cardboard box and I made some red curtains and we made three interchangeable backgrounds. Anyhow, I shall post pictures of his puppet shows once the glue has dried and he begins the shows!

James is almost done with his turnaround (yeah!) so that means mucho family time and father-son time.

Another exciting tidbit--Jamie's team is 3-1 now and they're really fun to watch. In fact, mom and Sarah are coming down Monday to watch his game. Should be fun, hopefully a ball comes his way-the four year olds are in the outfield due to difference in skill level between them and the six year olds.

So long for now, hope to post more later when there's time!

Take care all.

So much fun

Well, Bekah sent me a link to her blog, so I thought perhaps I should give it a try. Hopefully I'll be diligent(sp?)...but we shall see. Anyhow, I the reason for the title is all the fun I'm having with Jamie at this age.

What a blast he is--sometimes frustrating (esp. when picking up bad habits from classmates)--but all in all, he's so much fun right now. I love this age. First off, he started Peewee Baseball this year and he's on the Indians. He has so much fun and looks so cute in his uniform. Plus, he actually listens to the coaches and does pretty well in his games. He has two a week until the end of May, so we'll be plenty busy.

He's also just into playing a lot of board games, doing puzzles, cooking, and asking a lot of cool and fun questions. Sometimes it shocks me to realize how much he's grown when he'll ask for definitions of words so that he can 'use them properly' or how much he's actually grown! He's over 3 1/2 ft. tall, but still only 33 lbs. It's definitely strange to have a child who is over half my height. I mean I knew it would happen, I just didn't think it would be so soon!

Let's see, what else is new? Jamie is also very much a 'boy' and into battling, shooting bows and arrows, etc. He loves Lord of the Rings and often pretends to be Gimli, Aragorn, or Legolas and I get to be an Orc, Uruk-Hai, or Cave Troll. He also started getting an allowance for doing his chores. We got a really cool chore chart and he loves it. He has always loved to clean and help so we have only had one day where he didn't do three of his chores, but when he got docked on his allowance, he definitely learned his lesson and is very on top of things. He also likes to do extra chores and is constantly asking me when we can next deep clean the fridge. We cleaned in a couple of months ago (you know, shelves in the bathtub and everything) and he loved it. Strange child.

He's still loving school and we have now begun to read at home. He loves his Bob books (thanks Abby via Bekah) and these neat books Grandma Julie and Grandpa Jim sent him. Also some Dr. Seuss now. Anyhow, it's really makes me smile when I'm driving and he'll read a sign out loud like Brendan or Open--those are just the two I remember off the top of my head.

James is doing fine, he's one week one of a four week turnaround and in the first four days worked over 100 hours. Pretty much he goes to work, comes home, and goes to sleep about the same time Jamie does.

I suppose this is plenty long for my first blog-but I shall try and at least update every couple of days or so. Hope everyone is well and take care.
